Yet another big social problem is a product of mass consumerism and that is certainly youth unemployment issues. In the past decade, due to massive advance in various kinds of technology people as a work force slowly became very disposable. Let us be clear, advanced technology is certainly not a only problem regarding youth unemployment. Another big reason is massive change in trade of goods and services. That is a consequence of a new way of production changes. Today, modern society demands new, or newer versions of products almost on daily basis. That is the effect of consumerism and brand new culture of thinking about production and industry on global scale. Alongside with consumerism, the constant need to spend more and always buy newer products the technology playing the massive role regarding youth unemployment. Now, there is practically impossible to make, or to sustain a manufacturing company. Everything is robotic labour, and that cost employer much less than human labor force. For instance, in automobile industry almost all of the cars companies uses robotic labor for car chassis. And not just for chassis, robotics are been used in almost every part in assembling a car. You need electrician but you don’t need welders, you don’t need workers for painting the car and so on. The same Principe are been used in almost every branch of the industry. You don’t need and construction engender when you have a computer to do the math for a bridge for instance. That way of setting the costs to minimum amount and increasing the production left a massive army of youth without jobs. The technology itself is not so much an issue but consumerism is. In the consumerist culture the industry survives basically on constantly changing production and increasing the palette of products. Did you notice how today stuff , or new product is much likely to broke up? Old people are constantly saying how old products last much longer. That is true. Today everything is about quantity and not about quality. That makes perfect sense in consumerist culture. You have a constant need to spend more money in order to get newer product. That way of doing business is the main reason for massive youth unemployment rate in the world. The other reason is a very restrictive measures in greater part of the world from local governments. They are deliberately forcing to reduce employees in administration for instance because they are relaying on technology. Some companies in the world develops a concept of so called”smart cars”. Basically you don’t need a driver for this type of car. So companies like Uber and others are starting to use this cars. That begs a question, why do you need to hire a taxi driver who will cost you more than to invest in a smart car. In that way a taxi companies are solving two massive problems. They are simultaneously reducing costs and eliminating a human factor because computer car is proven a much more reliable, eliminating almost every mistakes that would a tired taxi driver would made. Of course this pattern is destructive for the world youth. They are left jobless, they finished schools and gained their diploma just to face a painful fact that their are not needed in modern concept of working. Something gotta change and that change must happen very fast because this is a burning social problem.
